Updating BT mod board

This page will guide you through updating the firmware to the BT mod board. 

 

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT HAVE THE PSP POWERED AND THE MOD BOARD MICRO USB CONNECTED TO YOUR COMPUTER AT THE SAME TIME. 

Stephens web app

You will want to go to Stephens web app. This host both all of the updates, button mappings, and any other blue tooth functionality. You can click here to go to the site. The link is also in the header and footer of our site here.

Connect your PS Placeable to power

Use the power port to get your PS Placeable powered up. If you have a fully assembled kit you don't need to worry, but I am just reminding everyone do not have your micro USB and PSP power cable both connected at the same time!

Put the BT mod board into BLE mode

We are going to use the mode button to change what mode the BT PCB is in. Press mode once to turn the system on. Let the PSP boot you will know this is done when the LED stays solid.

Next hold the mode button down until the LED flashes again. It should now blink three times then pause in a repeating pattern. This means you have entered Bluetooth mode. Letting your computer discover the device.

If the LED is blinking 3 times then pausing and repeating that pattern your device is ready to be connected to the web app.

Go to the program tab

The top right corner has a few tab options we are going to be in the program tab option. Then make sure you are on the most recent firmware. Click program and OTA is how we update the mod boards.

Possible errors while flashing

We want to warn anyone against refreshing the browser or closing it during the flashing process. It it possible to permanently damage the ESP. All ESP's will be tested and confirmed working when ordered so PLEASE BE CAREFUL.  Click next when ready.

Confirming the correct version

The dialog box will confirm with you the version you are currently setting to be installed. Hit program when ready.

Connect to your BT board

I use chrome for this since you will need to connect the web app to your blue tooth device. The device will be named BP32 click on it then click pair.

The flash should start 

You will start to see all the processes taking place. This can take a while. In our tests it can take more then 10 minutes. Feel free to minimize the browser while you wait. Just don't close it completely.

After the update is applied

Once the flash finishes you will be prompted to reconnect your board. You just need to click the reconnect button on the web page and the pairing window will open again.

Your BP32 may already say paired, still click it again and click pair.

All done!

The dialog box should tell you what firmware you started with and what you are running on now. Stephen is always working on new features and he is really a one person team so it you encounter any bugs please reach out so they can be fixed.

Now just click closed and you can power down your PS Placeable or start playing games right away!
